Conall escorted Selina back to his den, where she noticed the walls were covered in drawings. The drawings told the story his pack. Conall spent a great deal of time telling Selina what it means to be Moktirah. Although she could not deny that she found certain advantages to her new life, Selina could not get past the fact that she was forced into it. Each time Conall explained that this is the way mates are chosen among Moktirahs, Selina simply replied that she was not a Moktirah. Still, what was done was done. Selina could not deny her overwhelming attraction to her new mate, but she also knew that attraction had more to do with new-found instincts, rather than any real feeling. In an effort to appease his new mate and to prove himself worthy to her, Conall agreed to let her brand him as shamed. She did this by using a silver athame and touched it to his shoulder. The silver burned into his flesh like acid. Conall will bear the mark until the day Selina believes he no longer deserves to wear it.
